Regardless of prior experience, our “Lions” classes, for 7 & 8 year-olds, are geared towards developing and improving the fundamental skills of football as well as team camaraderie. FA inspired games, activities and drills are incorporated into every class to provide each Lion with a challenging and rewarding programme.
The course aims to facilitate and enhance the progress of individual players throughout this key stage in their development. Specifically, Lions classes focus on the improvement of passing, shooting and dribbling skills, whilst also promoting all-round fitness.
BFA’s aim is to inspire self-confidence, instill a sense of sportsmanship and provide each Lion with a feeling of belonging to the pride. The environment Lions play and learn in will not only foster their football skills, but will also serve to strengthen communication skills and heighten international understanding.
Upon graduation each Lion will be fully equipped with the technical ability and knowledge to tackle the challenges of The Academy.
U8s Development Programme
The U8s Development Programme is our most recent programme, aimed at introducing BFA children under 8 years of age to football and training in a competitive environment. Unlike the Lions, the U8 development sessions focus on technical and tactical aspects football, as well as taking steps towards understanding the rules and nature of the game in greater depth.
The sessions themselves consist of a warm up (heart raisers), a technical introduction to the session (a separate warm up with a ball, introducing skills that will be specific to the session topic), a skill-specific section (e.g. shooting, passing, defending, attacking); always ending with a series of matches to utilise the new skills in a more competitive and higher paced environment to replicate and prepare the children for tournaments and competitive games.
The U8s Development Programme is still predominantly designed, like every other BFA session, with the children’s enjoyment as its primary objective, but aims to balance this with a) training to compete and b) preparing the keen and more proficient footballers for tryouts with the U10 Jaguars.
Lions classes are held at the following locations.
