Ian is British, originally from South East London and now living in Yokohama. He is married with three children, Hannah (25), Edward (23) and Max (19). He is a graduate in Physical Education, Sports Science and Sports Management from Loughborough University in the U.K., qualified to coach a number of sports at youth level and has done so all his life. He particularly loves to coach football and is a qualified English FA Coach and Referee. He currently coaches Middle and High School Soccer for boys and girls at Yokohama International School, all aged youth soccer at the British Football Academy and runs the community soccer programme at YC&AC. He is also an active soccer referee and is booked regularly every week in the Tokyo Metropolitan League. His career has largely been spent in the non-profit sector, working in various parts of the world in senior management positions for community based organisations such as Habitat for Humanity, Earthwatch, The Leprosy Mission and The Elephant Family.
